Infinite family of second-law-like inequalities.
The probability distribution function for an out of equilibrium system may sometimes be approximated by a physically motivated "trial" distribution. A particularly interesting case is when a driven system (e.g., active matter) is approximated by a thermodynamic one. We show here that every set of trial distributions yields an inequality playing the role of a generalization of the second law. Th...
متن کاملInequalities on Infinite Networks
Inequalities on networks have played important roles in the theory of netwoks. We study several famous inequalities on networks such as Wirtinger’s inequality, Hardy’s inequality, Poincaré-Sobolev’s inequality and the strong isoperimetric inequality, etc. These inequalities are closely related to the smallest eigenvalue of weighted discrete Laplacian. We discuss some relations between these ine...
متن کاملMIXED VARIATIONAL INCLUSIONS INVOLVING INFINITE FAMILY OF FUZZY MAPPINGS
In this paper, we introduce and study a mixed variational inclusion problem involving infinite family of fuzzy mappings. An iterative algorithm is constructed for solving a mixed variational inclusion problem involving infinite family of fuzzy mappings and the convergence of iterative sequences generated by the proposed algorithm is proved. Some illustrative examples are also given.
متن کاملHarnack Inequalities in Infinite Dimensions
We consider the Harnack inequality for harmonic functions with respect to three types of infinite-dimensional operators. For the infinite dimensional Laplacian, we show no Harnack inequality is possible. We also show that the Harnack inequality fails for a large class of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes, although functions that are harmonic with respect to these processes do satisfy an a priori mod...
متن کاملParé's law: the second law of toxicology.
There are three so-called laws that underlie the science of toxicology. Paracelsus is usually considered to be the father of toxicology, having formulated the first law, which states that the dose makes the poison. The second law concerns the specificity of toxic effects of individual chemicals, a specificity due to the unique chemical structure of the agent and the laws of biology that govern ...
